    Primary Care Behavioral Health Consultant – McArthur PC

    Behavioral Health Consultant: Full Time 40 hours per week in the primary care clinic McArthur, Ohio. The behavioral health consultant (BHC) serves as the mental health member of the healthcare team in a federally qualified health center. The BHC’s work to improve recognition, treatment, and management of psychosocial/behavioral problems and medical conditions for patients of the primary care practice. Potential candidates must be an independently licensed LISW or PCC with strong mental health experience--including rapid screening/assessment skills, knowledge of brief behavioral health interventions, ability to manage behavioral health crises, and care coordination skills. The individual must be flexible, comfortable with the quick pace of a primary care setting, able to work as a member of the primary care team with multiple medical providers , comfortable serving in a leadership role for the mental health component of the primary care practice, and have strong communication skills.

    Other skills needed: The ability to lead meetings in the clinics, ability to practice without on site supervision, able to develop close communications with our behavioral health clinic in the Logan area and learn the processes of the traditional mental health clinics within our agency, and the ability to operate as a brief consultant. This is not a traditional therapist position with limited time to assess and intervene as needed or the patient situations require. The behavioral health consultant role and program continues to be built within our agency, strong initiative and flexibility are a must.

    Minimum Requirements: Master’s Degree in a mental health related field and independently licensed by the Ohio CSWMFT Board. Training and expertise in integrated mental health-primary care and motivational interviewing preferred. Preference also given to knowledge of Hocking County Community resources.
