We are currently searching for a tenure-track, assistant or associate professor position in the School of Kinesiology, Counseling and Rehabilitative Sciences at NKU. The school offers graduate degrees in both school and clinical mental health counseling, both of which are CACREP-accredited, as well as an undergraduate degree in Human Services and Addictions.
This position entails the following responsibilities: (a) teach graduate courses in the Counselor Education program and undergraduate courses in the Human Services & Addictions program, (b) supervise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students in both programs, (c) maintain a record of scholarly productivity through peer-reviewed publications and presentations, and (d) provide service to the profession, community, department, college, and university.
Requirements for Candidates:
At a minimum, each Assistant Professor position requires a completed doctorate from a CACREP-accredited counselor education program. Applicants who have completed all degree requirements except for the dissertation will be considered, but the doctoral degree must be conferred by August 2022.
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following characteristics:
(a) experience instructing or co-instructing courses in counselor education and human services in both face-to-face and online formats,
(b) record of scholarship as evidenced by presentations, publications, and/or grant work,
(c) post-master’s experience in school counseling,
(d) licensed/licensure-eligible as a professional clinical and/or school counselor in Kentucky, (e) experience in supervising students in practicum or internship courses, and
(f) an ability to establish and maintain working relationships with a diverse group of staff, students, and faculty.
Deadline for Application:
The formal review of applications will commence immediately and the search will remain open until the position is filled. The position will begin August 2022.
A complete application will include the following elements:
(1) a letter of intent that describes how well the applicant satisfies the required and preferred qualifications listed above and how the applicant will specifically contribute to the success of the programs,
(2) a curriculum vita,
(3) unofficial transcripts of all graduate work,
(4) a sample of scholarly writing,
(5) a personal philosophy statement on diversity and inclusion and why they are important in higher education, and
(6) the names of at least three professional references. (For applicants who reach the candidate stage, official transcripts and at least three letters of recommendation will also be required.)
