Job Summary: The Department of Counseling, Administration, Supervision, and Adult Learning (CASAL) at Cleveland State University is seeking culturally and academically diverse applicants of the highest caliber for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor in the Counselor Education Program beginning in August 14, 2021. The successful candidate will be working in a premier CACREP accredited Counselor Education Program in Northeast Ohio that enrolls a diverse student body and boasts nationally recognized faculty. The newly hired Visiting Assistant Professor will teach master’s level courses in clinical mental health and school counseling areas of specialization. She, he, or they will also be expected to focus on teaching with some service. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence, ethical practice, fostering harmony, enhancing diversity, and creating an inclusive culture within the department.
Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP accredited program. Experience with graduate level teaching in a Counselor Education program. Evidence of experience contributing to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community.
Preferred Qualifications: Evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g. course evaluations, documentation from the department chair). Experience with advising graduate level students. Currently licensed as a school counselor and/or clinical counselor in the state of Ohio OR documented evidence of license eligibility (e.g. correspondence with the ODE or OCSWMFT Board). Leadership activity with professional counseling organizations (e.g. serving as an officer or being invited to serve on an Advisory Committee). At least 5 years of professional experience working with children and/or adolescents (ex. k-12 setting, clinical mental health setting, private practice).
