    Job Title: Behavior Coach (K-5)

    Reports To: Building and District Administrative Team

    Position Description: Provide direct and indirect behavior management and trauma support for elementary school-age students, staff, and parents, utilizing evidence-based treatments and practices, case management practices, and data-based decision making to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to improve student outcomes. The Behavior Coach will work effectively with staff and families to provide training in and demonstration of best practices, strategies, and techniques to enhance instruction for students with social-emotional deficits.

    Required Qualifications: Ability to:

    • Demonstrate an understanding, patient, respectful, and receptive attitude towards students with exceptional needs, exuding a growth mindset and positive attitude towards all students

    • Work with and demonstrate observable and measurable progress with students who exhibit inappropriate behaviors to increase their social-emotional and behavioral skills in order to be successful in a public school setting; concurrently provide support and professional learning to staff who work with such students

    • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with children and adults

    • Provide training, assistance, and guidance to school staff and parents in the application of behavioral intervention procedures

    • Conduct and supervise functional behavior and functional analysis assessments, as well as behavior intervention plans

    • Utilize consulting skills to assure implementation and maintenance of intervention plans

    • Understand, carry out, and communicate oral and written directions

    • Establish and maintain communication with the various support systems that are available in the community

    • Maintain accurate records and files, and prepare documents and reports

    • Objectively measure/progress monitor direct services to students using formative and summative data

    • Be flexible and receptive to change

    • Participate and/or facilitate in-service training, conferences, and meetings, as needed

    Knowledge of:

    • Methodologies, including the science of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and

    Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), used to address the needs of children with social-emotional and behavioral challenges

    • Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) and tiered systems of support

    • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention & Physical Intervention to effectively de-escalate dysregulated students

    • Applicable directives, standards, procedures, policies, rules, regulations, codes, laws, and guidelines governing education and special education, particularly those relating to positive behavioral interventions and supports

    • Analysis and assessment procedures, including functional analysis, ecological analysis of settings, and systematic observation and interviewing

    • Data tracking and collection, record management, and reporting methods

    Education and Exp erience:

    • Master's Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field

    • Board Certified Behavior Analyst certification or progress toward certification preferred

    • Experience working with children with social-emotional and/or behavioral deficits

    • Experience or knowledge of public education systems and curriculum

    • Experience in consultation and coaching staff in behavior management

    • State license in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field

    Essential Duties:

    • Collect data via direct student observation and consultation with classroom teachers regarding student behaviors and recommend appropriate instructional modifications to support positive student behavior; identify and implement appropriate small-group and individual interventions for students in need of additional assistance

    • Develop behavior intervention programs and monitor implementation within the classroom

    • Conduct functional behavior assessments and work collaboratively with team members to create behavior intervention plans, as needed

    • Work directly with students on behavioral goals and implementation of behavior intervention and counseling programs

    • Provide evidence-based educational resources, training, and technical assistance to staff in the design, implementation, and evaluation of behavior management systems designed to meet the needs of all students, in accordance with all directives, standards, procedures, policies, laws, rules regulations, codes, and guidelines

    • Focus on increasing the skills of all teachers and staff to better meet the needs of students with social-emotional and/or behavioral issues

    • Plan and oversee the development and implementation of programs, policies, and best practices related to instruction using the science of Applied Behavior Analysis

    • Operate and manage the building's SMART Labs

    • Supervise any Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) in the building

    • Keep current with issues, laws, and regulations regarding positive behavioral interventions and supports, special education, educational trends, and other issues related to children with exceptional needs

    • Document program results, maintain accurate records and other required data, prepare and submit reports in a timely manner

    • Consult with administrators, teachers, parents, and other staff, and serve as an integral team member for any student-specific or building meetings (e.g., CARE team), as needed

    • Maintain strict student and parent confidentiality

    • Serve as a resource to provide formal and informal training, supervision, guidance, and assistance to students, educators, parents, service providers, and agencies, as needed

    • Perform other related duties, as assigned

    Salary: Salary schedule placement is commensurate with experience and training.
