Title: Evidenced-Based Integrated Treatments for Substance Abuse

Presenter: Erin Parsons-Christian, LPCC-S, CWC

This presentation provides psychoeducation on adolescent substance use, a significant risk factor for co-occurring mental health disorders, criminal behavior, and substance dependence later in life. Available evidence-based treatments and interventions (i.e., Multisystemic Therapy, Functional Family Therapy, Multidimensional Family Therapy, Culturally Informed Flexible Family Treatment) will be discussed. Furthermore, options for how to link clients with these programs will be provided. This presentation provides a deeper understanding of risk and protective factors for adolescent substance use. Attendees will be able to understand better the positive outcomes and recidivism rates that exist with adolescent substance use and co-occurring disorders. Attendees will have new tools, interventions, and therapeutic strategies when providing high-quality individual, parenting, and family counseling services.

This workshop is approved by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board for 2 CEUs.
