In this session, participants will identify common goals for professional counselors in college settings, as well as internal and external barriers that hold college counselors back from achieving their goals within institutions of higher education, such as low self-confidence, inadequate and inequitable pay, lack of opportunities for advancement, and systems of oppression. Participants will additionally learn strategies to address these barriers, including strategies to build self-confidence, build professional support networks, address professional hierarchies, address the lack of understanding of a counselor’s role, consult and collaborate with human resources departments, and address the lack of opportunity for advancement. The session will conclude with an open discussion with time for questions and answers.

*The Zoom link will be distributed to registrants closer to the event date.
