Integrating a Feminist Perspective in your Work as a Sexual Health Professional

After the presentation, participants should be able to:

1. Define feminism and the relevance of awareness regarding sex ed, counseling, and therapy

2. Understand the ways that awareness of feminist theory enhances/ expands the work of sexual health professionals 

3. Understand the ways in which feminist theory/ values can influence the work of sexual health professionals and their work in a positive way


This program meets the requirements of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT) and is approved for 2.5 CE credits and is considered synchronous learning if in attendance to the live webinar. Participants will be expected to complete a post webinar assignment as part of the completion of the 2.5 AASECT CE's. These CE credits may be applied toward AASECT certification and renewal of certification through the Sexuality Training Institute. Competency Areas:
Sex Therapy A. Theory and methods of sex-related psychotherapy, including several different models.
Sex Counseling B
Theory and methods of sexuality counseling approaches to specific populations (e.g., youth, older adult, couples, LGBTQ people, people with disabilities, ethnic/ cultural/ faith-based populations).
Sexuality Education Training-D. Theory and methods of approaches to sexuality education with specific populations (e.g., youth, older adults, couples, ethnic/ cultural/ faith-based populations, LGBTQ people, people with disabilities).
Core Knowledge-D. Issues related to sexual orientation and/or gender identity: heterosexuality; issues and themes impacting lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, asexual people; gender identity and expression.
