Graduate Student Award 2024 Recipient

The purpose of this award is to recognize graduate students who have excelled: in service to OCA and the counseling profession; counseling-related extracurricular or co-curricular involvements; and has demonstrated excellence and commitment to the profession - awarded to two Master and two Doctoral student members.


Diana DePasquale is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling master’s student and counselor trainee. Since January, she has been fulfilling her internship requirements at a community based correctional facility in Northwest Ohio, providing individual, group, and couples counseling. Her article on using improvisation in therapy groups was published last month in Corrections Today magazine. Diana is also the recipient of the 2024 Emerging Leader Award from the Ohio Association for Specialists in Group Work, and the 2024 Outstanding Graduate Student of the Year from the Ohio Career Development Association. In December, she completes her End of Life Doula training with the University of Vermont. Along with her 6-year old French Bulldog, Reuben Sandwich, Diana is part of a therapy dog team certified by the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. Diana also serves clients through the Open Path Psychotherapy Collective, a nonprofit nationwide network of mental health professionals dedicated to providing mental health care at a steeply reduced rate to those who are uninsured or underinsured.
