Charles "Chuck" Weaver Service Award 2024 Recipient

One who has shown long, consistent and distinguished service to the counseling profession and who has shown exemplary caring for people.


Dr. Marlise Lonn (she/her/hers) has been an NCC since 2004, is a LPCC in Ohio and an LPC with supervisory endorsement in Texas. In 2015, She joined the counseling faculty at Bowling Green State University and is an Associate Professor. Marlise moved to Bowling Green from San Antonio, TX where she earned er PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She began her professional counseling journey at the University of Wyoming, earning her master’s degree and working as a career counselor. Her clinical work includes college counseling centers, bereavement counseling, and working with recently arrived immigrants. Marlise specializes in supporting people as they navigate life transitions. Her primary research interests include supervision, reflective practice, and wellness in PK-12 schools and counseling agencies. She presents on these topics at state, regional, national, and international conferences. As the PI on a 1.8 million dollar grant funded through the US Department of Justice, she focuses on mental health and wellbeing in Ohio schools. Her professional service includes positions on the Northwest Ohio Counselor Association board, and selected service with OCA, OACES, and ACA. She is also a reviewer, and an associate editor. Recently, Marlise was honored to receive the 2024 NWOCA Supervisor of the Year Award. Marlise loves to travel and is especially fond of road trips. She enjoys dabbling in different creative endeavors, including needle felting, knitting, painting, cardmaking, altering books, and whatever else grabs her attention.
