Marisa L. Cargill, Ph.D., M.Ed., LPCC-S, is a seasoned mental health professional, educator, and advocate. With an extensive background in counseling and education, Marisa brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her work in both clinical and academic settings. Marisa holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision, as well as an M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, both from the University of Akron, Ohio. Due to her undergraduate experiences as a mass media communication student with a concentration on radio and television, Marisa has spent significant time learning about media influences on mental health, with specific attention to social media. In her current role as a counselor at Spring Health and owner of her own mental health practice, More Light Counseling, LLC, Marisa provides compassionate care while she tailors treatment plans to address individual needs to ensure positive client outcomes. In addition to her clinical work, Marisa is deeply committed to education and has served as a counselor at Cuyahoga Community College, where she supported students in academic and career goal development while advocating for equity and inclusion within the college community. As a Senior Lecturer at The University of Akron, Marisa teaches various counseling courses, aiming to enhance student learning and reinforce counseling competencies. Beyond these roles, she serves as chair and host of the Ohio Counseling Association’s podcast, Ohio Counseling Conversations, to help educate counseling professionals and others about meaningful mental health topics and advocacy work. Through her clinical practice, teaching endeavors, and advocacy efforts, she strives to empower individuals to achieve their goals while fostering a culture of care and belonging. . |
