Internship Opportunities for the 2017-2018 AY
The Counseling and Human Development Center (CHDC) at Kent State University invites applications for clinical internships for the 2017-2018 academic year for Doctoral Students in Counselor Education. The internships will be 20 hours per week for 32 weeks (16 weeks each semester) with the possibility of some work between semesters if necessary/preferred. Duties will consist of providing direct counseling services to clients, providing some supervision (if qualified) to counseling center practicum students, administrative duties, and other center-related duties as assigned. Interns will have the opportunity to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and provide services addressing a variety of mental and emotional disorders. At this time the internships will be unpaid.
The CHDC is a clinical counseling training clinic that provides approximately 4000 hours of clinical counseling services to KSU students and members of the surrounding community annually. It maintains day, evening, and weekend hours and is free-of-charge to KSU students. The CHDC utilizes EMR software for scheduling and documentation and records all training sessions.
The deadline for applying for the internships is April 1, 2017 with follow-up phone or in-person interviews throughout mid-April. Interested individuals should send a cover letter and current vitae including 2 references to Dr. Jason Miller, Director, CHDC at jmille4@kent.edu At least one of the references should be someone who can speak to the applicant’s clinical abilities (past practicum instructor, supervisor, etc). At this time, letters of recommendation are not required but may be requested as the interview process progresses.
