    Director of Smetzer Counseling Center at Ashland Theological Seminary

    General Summary: The purpose of this position is to provide clinical and administrative oversight of the Smetzer Counseling program and to promote its services throughout the community. 

    Major Duties Pertaining to Smetzer Counseling Center

    • Recruit prospective practicum and internship students
    • Seek ways to increase Smetzer Counseling Center revenues through new programs, appropriate billing practices, grants, and increased clientele
    • Correspond with students regarding positions available at Smetzer Counseling Center
    • Interview prospective practicum and internship students
    • Select Counselor Trainees to complete their practicum and internship at SCC
    • Training of interns regarding all aspects of the Smetzer Counseling Center operations
    • Conduct orientation meetings throughout the year
    • Obtain and organize students materials for practicum and internship
    • Oversight of the operations of the Smetzer Counseling Center
    • Lead staff meetings as needed throughout the year
    • Marketing of Smetzer Counseling Center and programs including development of literature (i.e. brochures, mailings, etc.)
    • Serve as initial contact person for potential clients and referrals
    • Liaison between Smetzer Counseling Center and practicum and internship coordinators
    • Development and oversight of wellness groups
    • Collaborate with department administrative assistant on client scheduling procedures
    • Off campus presentations regarding services offered at Smetzer Counseling Center
    • Update and maintain Policies and Procedures for SCC
    • Update and maintain SCC forms (e.g., case notes, treatment plans, etc.)

    Education and Experience 
    Minimum 1 year experience in continuing education, higher education, or theological education. Master's degree required, Ph.D. preferred. Knowledge of theological education required. Must have LPCC-S in State of Ohio.
