    Career Counselor/Program Instructor

    This position is located in Columbus, OH. 

    Overview:

    The Career Counselor/Program Instructor is responsible for career development program delivery, individual career counseling, conducting career personality, interest, and values assessments, and completing orientation and intake sessions for potential clients. The individual will lead holistic program topics including stress management, self-esteem, decision making and goal setting, overcoming barriers to employment, and creating a plan for change. The ideal candidate will have experience with adult learning needs, knowledge of women’s issues related to career and the world of work, and delivering career development programming in a group setting.     Qualifications:

    Master’s degree in Counseling or related field with LPC licensure in the state of Ohio. Previous experience facilitating psychoeducational groups (2-3 years preferred). Knowledge regarding career development, career exploration, and career planning information/activities. Desired knowledge of self-promotion strategies (including resume development), job search activities, and workforce trends. Understanding of diversity and cultural competence; knowledge of women’s issues and/or poverty culture preferred. Ability to work with a diverse adult client population and help clients cope with a variety of life’s issues related to occupational success including, but not limited to: mental and emotional disorders, disabilities and/or physical limitations, substance abuse, poverty, lack of support systems, current and/or past abuse/trauma, legal offenses, and financial/credit issues. Must work well in a small, fast-paced organization – both independently and as part of a team. Proficient in the use of Windows 7, and Microsoft Office programs. Previous non-profit experience preferred. Must have flexible schedule, with some evening and weekend availability.
