Early Childhood Mental Health Training Coordinator and Consultant

    40 hours per week.  Person will be responsible for conducting the activities for the ODMH Early Learning Initiative for Region 10 (Athens, Belmont, Guernsey, Hocking, Monroe, Morgan, Muskingum, Noble, Perry, and Washington Counties)

     

    The primary activity, approximately 90%, will be to provide training to early childhood programs targeted for this grant (Child care settings with ODJFS funded slots, Preschools, and Head Starts). This includes but is not limited to the following:

    • Participate in ODE/ODJFS designated regional teams and attend all required meetings and training sessions
    • Coordinate with other providers of professional development as part of the ELCG
    • Participate in development of training to facilitate the use of standards and assessments by early childhood educators across sectors in support of social emotional development and approaches towards learning
    • Provide ODE/ODJFS developed training and support for the implementation of the birth to kindergarten entry early learning and development standards for Social/Emotional Development and Approaches Toward Learning to targeted programs, once available
    • Provide training on social/emotional needs of children and relevant mental health topics. 
    • Participate in ODE/ODJFS approved training on classroom and child assessment tools (e.g. CLASS, identified child screening or assessment instruments)
    • Training/technical assistance to be provided within the identified region/counties and/or center face-to-face group settings
    • Collect and enter data as required by ODMH into prescribed data systems
    • Quarterly activity and fiscal reports will be required to be submitted to ODMH as prescribed by the grant.

    Other activities – approximately 10% of time or less devoted to providing targeted ECMH center-based consultation services as identified in the Ohio Model of ECMH Consultation.  

    Eligibility and Qualifications of the Applicant

    Applicants must have a master’s degree in Early Education and/or and a mental health license (PC, PCC-S, LSW, LISW) Experience with Early Childhood Mental Health is required. Preference given for the following criteria:

    • Approved trainer through the Ohio Professional Development Network (OPDN) Registry
      • If not already approved,  must apply immediately to become approved trainer
    • Provided training to Early Care and Education staff
      • Must provide record of providing ongoing training to early childhood providers either on OPDN registry or data in ECMH web-based data system to support
    • ECMH credential optional but if not, must meet following credential criteria:
      • Must have worked in ECMH a minimum of 4 years;
      • Minimum of bachelor’s degree from a Regional Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) accredited college; and
      • Must have major field of study related to early childhood per ECMH Professional Credential Guidance
    • Must have minimum 2 years’ experience in providing ECMH center-based consultation
    • Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and vehicle suitable for transportation required.
