The ACA Midwest Region is thrilled to announce the launch of the Free ACA Midwest Region Continuing Education Lunch and Learn Program! We are introducing a series of engaging and informative sessions that aim to elevate the professional development of our members.

Our inaugural speaker for February 6th, 2024 is none other than Dr. Michele Kerulis, a renowned expert in our field. Dr. Kerulis brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, and her session promises to be both insightful and inspiring! Please register for the event with the link provided below. One continuing education credit is provided for free by Northwestern University.

Key Details:

Join Dr. Michele Kerulis in an exploration of balance in personal and professional life. Uncover a new perspective on the art and science of leadership wellness as Dr. Kerulis discusses strategies to develop greater understanding of your own wellness needs.

Counselors dedicate their careers to developing the emotional wellness of others and sometimes forget to take time for themselves. The events of the previous few years resulted in extreme stress and counselors were challenged to help clients address increased crisis, grief, and uncertainty, all while dealing with these issues, too. With stress comes growth and a re-evaluation of our meaning in life.

In this interactive workshop, counselors will learn their vision of leadership in counseling, individualized ingredients for wellness, ways to overcome existing and unanticipated roadblocks, and learn existential reflection exercises to help them explore their ideas about making meaning during different stages of life. Counselors will leave this session with their own realistic self-care and reflection plans that can be implemented immediately.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify at least three ethics codes (ACA, 2014; AMHCA 2020) related to self-care and clinical practice
  • Describe at least two leadership styles and understand how they relate to counseling
  • Identify at least two strategies for implementing wellness
  • Identify at least two theories related to reflecting about meaning making

We encourage all members to actively participate in these lunch and learn sessions. The content is designed to be relevant, engaging, and directly applicable to your professional practice. It's an excellent opportunity to stay updated on the latest trends, techniques, and research in counseling.
