More and more we see college students experiencing heightened levels of internal turmoil and limited knowledge of effective coping mechanisms. It is crucial that counselors have skills to support clients through the demands of college, both academically and personally. Additionally with the number of college students seeking therapy increasing, group work may be a useful avenue as the case loads of college counselors rise. This presentation will be designed to help individuals gain a better understanding of performance anxiety in college students. This presentation will also give clinicians practical techniques that are group appropriate and rooted in self-compassion, such as a loving-kindness meditation or a compassion-based writing exercise to guide clients to heightened levels of self-love and appreciation.
