Conflict is a normal part of any healthy working relationship. When conflict in the workplace is mismanaged, or worse, ignored, it can cause great harm to a productive working relationship. When approached in a respectful and positive way, conflict provides an opportunity to inspire new and creative perspectives and strengthen the working relationship. By learning and utilizing the skills for conflict identification and resolution, you will encourage and grow a positive, respectful, and inspiring workplace environment to better support and endorse the community your organization serves.

Objectives

      1. Identify the categories and causes of workplace conflict.
      2. Describe why it is important to resolve conflict in the workplace.
      3. Identify the steps in the conflict resolution process.
      4. Learn and utilize the methods of resolving conflict.

Agenda

9:00 am – Understanding conflict, causes of conflict
9:45 am – Harmful impact of unresolved conflict: destructive to group cohesion/performance
10:30 am – Break
10:45 am – Identify the key skills in the conflict resolution process
11:30 am – Learn and utilize the 5 steps to resolving conflict
12:15 pm – Close

Participants are required to stay logged-in for the Q&A portion of the training for successful completion, as it is part of the educational portion of this course.

Therapist, and Senior Community Lecturer, The Ohio State University College of Social Work

Gwendolyn Rees (she/her), MSW, LISW-S is a social worker with nearly twenty years of experience working in both the not-for-profit and private sectors. Gwendolyn has supervised social workers in case management, behavioral health, and medical settings. Gwendolyn is a therapist in private practice and a Senior Community Lecturer at The Ohio State University College of Social Work. She is a training facilitator on various topics related to the profession of Social Work as well as other clinical and social service fields. Her approach as a presenter is much like her approach clinically and in the classroom— eclectic, engaging, and collaborative.

Evaluations will be distributed within 24 hours after the training via email. You will receive a link where you can submit the completed evaluation. The links come from our Qualtrics survey software, so please be sure to check your spam folder. Evaluations must be completed to receive CE credits. Certificates will be emailed to you within 30 days of the training date.
