    Summary:
    Oversees Good Grief peer support groups, ensuring quality and consistency. Provides guidance, information and referrals to families and others around issues of death, grief and loss.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    Leads recruitment, screening, training, and supervision of Volunteer Facilitators and Program Assistants. Provides coaching, feedback, and continued training to support volunteer performance.

    Directly supervises peer support program:
    Monitors content of support group activities for appropriateness.
    Ensures effective communication and planning with volunteers; facilitates regularly scheduled volunteer meetings.
    Provides information about new families, family updates, and other announcements to Facilitators and Program Assistants. Addresses family concerns or issues, providing direction, support, or coaching to Facilitators as needed.
    Ensures all set-up and clean-up work is completed, and all meeting supplies are available and replenished as needed.
    Ensures child safety policies, emergency procedures, and building safety policies are followed by all staff and volunteers.

    Conducts family intake, orientation, and group assignment for prospective bereavement support group participants. Provides follow-up and referral to mental health therapists, protective services, or other outside resources as needed.

    Maintains family records and ensures family database is correct and up-to-date.

    Provides guidance, resources, and referrals to members of the community in need of support for grieving children. Makes presentations to community groups, teachers, physicians, and others about Good Grief and children’s grief issues. Conducts or oversees educational trainings and appropriate speaking engagements for outside groups.

    Provides outreach to schools in crisis, offering support as needed and appropriate, according to established guidelines.

    Acts as liaison to the Program Advisory Committee.

    Oversees and implements program evaluation procedures. Oversees analysis of evaluation results and provides regular reports to the Executive Director and Program Advisory Committee. Uses evaluation information to make program improvements.

    With the Executive Director and Board of Directors, contributes to the development of Good Grief’s strategic plan, and ensures programming objectives are met on schedule. Develops and implements new or expanded programs as approved by the Board of Directors.

    Supports maintenance of statistics and information needed for grant reports.

    Writes grief related blog articles for the organization website.

    Assists with obtaining photos, family stories, and other information to help support fundraising and educational outreach efforts.

    Assists in keeping therapist and community resource lists up-to-date.

    Other duties, as assigned.

    Minimum Job Requirements
    Clinical Licensure - MSW or LPC preferred
    Experience in Bereavement
    Experience with art and/or play therapies
    Experience with children and teens.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
    Organizing and coordinating
    Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    The ability to work effectively and respectfully with a wide range of individuals in a diverse community.
    Self-motivated, emphasizing accuracy and professionalism.
    Ability to meet short deadlines.
    Excellent understanding of the needs of grieving individuals of all ages.

    Supervision
    Reports to and is supervised by the Executive Director.
