Support and Expression: Relational Gestalt Practice with Children

DATES

       April 7-8, 2017

TIMES

       Fri., 1:00pm-7:00pm

       Sat., 9:00am-5:00pm

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

          When children come into our offices we have the privilege of being with them as they are in their unique place and time in development. Most often, issues in the family or in their own lives cause the child to be alone with his or her lived experience of what it’s like to be in this context.

        In this workshop we will explore ways to work with children by supporting them to fully express what they hold in their bodies, keep as secrets, or act out in play with friends or in the family.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

       Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe Gestalt Therapy with Children;
  • Discuss a Gestalt approach to child development;
  • Explore how children carry their lived experience in the context of the relational field;
  • Identify interventions to support children to express what they carry; and
  • Practice using these interventions.
